It has been claimed in Egypt that Percy Tau's recent absence from games is due to a fallout with Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller.

Following Al Ahly's shock Cairo Derby loss, it has now been claimed there is another reason why Percy Tau has not been playing in recent weeks.

The South Africa international has been out of action since 29 March, with his last appearance for the Egyptian giants coming in their 1-0 win over Simba SC in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final.

The former Brighton Hove & Albion star played 67 minutes before being substituted off during that tie.

Initial reports had suggested that he is struggling with an ankle injury.

Now, however, it has been claimed that his absence is not for medical reasons, but rather because of a fallout with Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller, according to former Egypt international-turned-analyst Reda Abdel Aal, per Al Sobh

The former Al Ahly star stated that despite his recent absence, the attacker was fit enough to play in the Red Devils' 2-1 loss to rivals Zamalek on Monday night.

"What I learned is that Percy Tau, the star of the Al Ahly team, does not suffer from any injury and was able to participate in the summit match against the Zamalek club," Abdel Aal said on Egyptian television show Primo.

"Tau is upset with Koller because of what happened with the coach of Al Ahly team in the match against Simba in Tanzania, when the player was warming up to participate in the match, but Koller brought in another player instead of him."

The Red Devils won that second leg against Simba 2-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the continental club tournament.

The Cairo-based club are currently ninth on the league table after picking up just two wins in their last five matches, although they still have four games in hand on league leaders Pyramids, who have 11 points more.

The side will be in action on Saturday when they take on TP Mazembe in the first leg of their CAFCL semi-final.
