Stellenbosch FC hammered SuperSport United 4-0 to book their spot in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Athenkosi Mcaba and Anicet Oura were back in the line-up for Stellies while SuperSport handed Abdulrazak Hamza a rare start and named Shandre Campbell on the bench.

Oura enjoyed a good return on seven minutes where he made complete use of a goal-mouth scramble after combining with Iqraam Rayners down the left and slotted in an empty net.

Matsatsantsa weren’t out of the woods and could’ve gone behind again in the space of a minute from a stern header by Andre De Jong following a cross, but goalkeeper Ricardo Goss got behind it.

Terrence Dzvukamanja did come close to restore parity through a powerful strike from range, but Stelleis goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke pulled swiftly to court him.

In-form Devon Titus threatened to double the lead from a well-timed through pass from De Jong, but Goss rushed out to narrow the angle.

SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt introduced Shandre Campbell, Lucky Muthewi and Siviwe Magidigidi ahead of skipper Onismor Bhasera, Hamza and Dzvukamanja.

Titus made amends a minute in the second half when he ran in behind to connect with Rayners’ first-time pass and finished from the tightest of angles.

Matsatsantsa continued to fell apart as a flowing move on the break seven minutes in released De Jong out on the right and the New Zealander finished off the upright.

Rayners, who had a blinder against his former club, very nearly made it four with a looping shot outside the area but it came off the upright.

It worsened for the five-time champions ten minutes later as the free-spirited Rayners cut in from the right to finish from a tight angle and eventually made it 4-0 to the Maroons.

SuperSport looked for a consolation before full-time, but the Maroons weren’t generous and closed shop to see out victory and a fourth successive semi-final in knockout tournaments this season.
