With Orlando Pirates releasing a statement after a player was seen discussing betting on the result of an English Premier League match on camera, readers have given their thoughts on the matter!

What's the story?

The video made its rounds on social media and in it, goalkeeper Sipho Chaine and another unnamed player were discussing betting on an EPL encounter between Manchester United and Arsenal whilst in the dressing room.

However, the club released an official statement stating that the players did place any bets on the game, and described the incident as "a light-hearted moment among teammates."

Here's what fans had to say:

"Chaine must be a punter because he is allergic to clean-sheet so he bet both teams to score every match they play," says Vutomi Nickel Khoza.

"You can tell that Chaine is a punter, the way he dish out assists to his opponents," says Gerby Darlington.

"If it was Sundowns players u were gonna see negative comments," says Thamsanqa Alex Khala.

"Richards Bay, straight win, R10k in. The rest was history," says Mogomotsi Proqnosiz.

"Against Richards Bay United the odds were very high," says Mokone L Komane.

"Lol Yhoooo the boys gave Richard's Bay a straight win," says Aphelele Olwethu Gcobani Mdingi.

"Pirates against any Team, both teams to score, then he donate one and become. Ma-Thousand klaar," says Foizer Matlou.

"With betting companies even sponsoring sports team's, competitions or tournament's. Is it really a controversy when this occurs?" asks Endevour Bophilo Ki Mzabalazo.

"They sold the Richards bay game," says Nzwana Mvetye Kama Snr.

"That's a serious offense! if indeed they have Betway accounts harsh punishment is on the way, it's not allowed for professional players to involve themselves in sport betting," says Xolani Mxovas Mnisi.

"Thina we bet straight win Pirates. Them, they bet against themselves; we lost twice. All who would found guilty should be suspended," says Mandla Xaba.

Meanwhile, Burnley manager Vincent Kompany opened up on Lyle Foster's battle with his mental wellbeing this season, and praised the striker for the way in which he dealt with the situation.

Check out what readers had to say:

"Fact remains, we need this guy in Bafana line up," says Lungaxhala Jozi.

"Bro must be “depressed” after the relegation became official. Shame man, poor guy," says Nhlonipho Nhlokzin Msweli.

"Everton must sign Lyle Foster, they need him to help Calvert Lewin upfront,' says Duncan Tladi.

"We are really proud of him and if he didn't get an injury he could have a wonderful season with Burnley unfortunately we don't have a South African striker in EPL anymore," says Bongane Joseph.

"I guess the whole team was having mental issues. We wouldn't have gotten our Bronze if he came with that mentality," says Thabo Manele.

"One who is mentally ill when he has to play for his national team..." says Ambrogioni D'ambrosio.

"I wish for Lyle to stay with his team so that he can grow to be a respectable striker, then after 3 or 4 season's with Burnley he can ask to be transferred to a bigger team," says Ngcuka Jason Lavisa.
